Janssen expands its 'mobile health manager'

Add family support option to adherence campaign

Janssen Care4TodayJanssen has expanded its mobile adherence campaign Care4Today, adding a new family support option to encourage patients take their medicines as prescribed.

Originally launched last year, the free reminder service combines messaging, a mobile app and a website to encourage patient adherence.

In addition to family support, the updated Care4Today also adds an option for summarised adherence reports that can be shared with their family or healthcare provider.

It also now comes with the ability for patients to select from a list of charities to donate $0.05 from Janssen for each day they take all of their medicines, with the company pledging to give at least $20,000 to each charity.

“Care4Today Mobile Health Manager 2.0 reflects our on-going commitment to serving the healthcare needs of millions by providing free tools that support and motivate people to take their medications on schedule,” said David Tripi, a partner at Janssen Healthcare Innovation.

“With our family support programme and charitable donations for each day of adherence, consumers have the opportunity to help others while staying on top of their own treatment regimens.”

The programme was put together by Janssen Healthcare Innovation, a team within Janssen Research & Development that focuses on optimising healthcare delivery.

The Care4Today Mobile Health Manager 2.0 allows patients to set up reminders for any kind of prescription or over-the-counter medication, nutritional supplement or any other activity.

The mobile service, which Janssen said is an FDA-registered Class 1, 510K exempt medical device, is the first of a number of similar programmes the company is considering launching.

At earlier stages of development are the Care4Today Heart Health Solutions, Orthopaedic Solutions and Mental Health Solutions programmes, all of which are Janssen is currently piloting.
