Pfizer is collaborating with six YouTube film makers on a two-month UK smoking cessation campaign.

Vloggers such as a geek rap star and an award-winning magician will create videos that capture the imagination of smokers who wish to quit and upload them to the Pfizer UK YouTube channel to highlight how healthcare professionals can help people stop smoking.

The campaign runs until Friday 29 May and has the endorsement of charity QUIT and the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation and aims to raise up to £20,000 for them.

The videos will be added to the Pfizer UK YouTube channel and the company will donate 1p every time a video is ‘liked’ or someone clicks through to its Quit with Help disease awareness website, with 10p per view when watched through TrueView.

In a joint statement Glyn McIntosh, chief executive at QUIT, and Melody Holt, tobacco control development manager at Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation, said: “We’re delighted to be part of this fresh initiative designed to engage smokers through social media.

“This creative campaign will encourage smokers to break the endless cycle of quitting and relapsing and show them that with the right help, quitting for good is within their grasp and they don’t have to do it alone.”
