Independent pharmacists in the UK are being offered free tablet devices to help them keep up with the changing demands of their profession, following the launch in April 2013 of the biggest NHS reform programme in since its formation.
The Alphega Pharmacy chain will offer its members devices that sport a package of pharmacy-specific training and product information apps, with the aim of providing a one-stop-shop for information for pharmacists or the public.
The chain said this would be the first time a package of apps designed for pharmacists and pharmacy staff had been made available in the UK.
Sue Moore, general manager at Alphega Pharmacy UK, said: “Alphega Pharmacy works hard to be one step ahead to make sure our members are prepared for current and future challenges ahead.
“Our technology support for pharmacists is unique in the UK and gives our members the tools they need to meet customer demand for convenience and choice. We are continually exploring new technical solutions and will be announcing further exciting new developments in 2013 and beyond.”
Aimed at supporting a range of business, training and product information needs, the tablets computers will officially be launched in July 2013.
Alphega Pharmacy is a leading network of independent pharmacists with 4,700 independent pharmacy members across six countries – the Czech Republic, France, Italy, Spain, Russia and the UK.
It launched in the UK in November 2007 and currently supports 949 pharmacies across the country.
