Sanofi launches online community for midwives

Connecting Midwives follows in the footsteps of the company's Connecting Nurses community

Sanofi Connecting Midwives online community

Sanofi has launched a new online community for midwives that it hopes will enable them to share experiences, ideas and innovations.

Aimed at fostering a global community, the Connecting Midwives site has been set up in partnership with the International Confederation of Midwives and will be, Sanofi said, a “sharing space” for the profession.

Caty Forget, managing director at the Sanofi Espoir Foundation, said: “We would like to highlight actions set up by midwives inside their community and enhance the key role they play on a daily basis to further education and prevention, and to save lives.

“This sharing space will help enhance their professional practice and their networks, especially those midwives working in rural and often secluded areas.”

Set up in 2010 the Sanofi Espoir Foundation works to reduce healthcare inequalities and fighting maternal and newborn mortality is one of its major objectives.

In addition to a Google Groups-powered forum, Connecting Midwives will reward the best projects run an award scheme to recognise innovative projects and best practice across the midwifery community.

As an initiative Connecting Midwives follows in the footsteps of Sanofi’s similar Connecting Nurses community, which it set up in 2011.
