Pharmaceutical Market Europe – March 2024

Forging ahead with curiosity and confidence

As our cover story for this month’s issue, we’re delighted to feature Rippon Ubhi, Country Lead for UK & Ireland, as she takes up her new role. Having worked in a number of different countries, including the UK, the US and Japan, Rippon has almost two decades of senior commercial leadership experience.

Talking about her different experiences, Rippon says: “Japan was my first international role and I learnt a huge amount both professionally and personally. I was thrown into this completely different way of life. In my first few months, I felt like an outsider. I was the only woman on the leadership team, which I knew was going to be tough. Luckily, I had some amazing people who took me under their wing and showed me the ropes.”

She goes on to say: “My biggest challenge has always been finding my voice in a male-dominated industry. Resisting the temptation to become someone else or fit into a certain mould. In recent years, I’ve had the privilege of learning from both male and female mentors, and their guidance has been instrumental in helping me stay true to myself.” Read more on page 16 about Rippon’s experiences and how they led her to her current role.

Then, turn to page 20 for our article from Matias Ferraris, International Medical Affairs Head at Novartis Neuroscience, where Matias talks about the importance of the patient voice for people with MS and how collaborative, shared decision-making can result in integrating all stakeholders involved in patient care, empowering patients to be advocates and active participants in managing the course of their MS.”

Go to page 24 to read the article on the recent Bioinfect 2024 conference that took place in Liverpool, focusing on the ongoing threat from AMR and the progress being made.

With an eye on the sky in the hopes of some warm spring sunshine and being able to put away our winter coats, I hope you enjoy this issue!
