New beginnings
Spring is always a time for new beginnings, with people – not just trees! – turning over a new leaf. The warmer weather encourages us to venture out to get more exercise, after spending time indoors during the winter months, and the benefits of behaviour change come to the fore.
Behaviour change is one of healthcare’s greatest challenges and language is important when we talk about this particular topic.
In Danny Buckland’s article this month, he looks at why behaviour change “is a loaded phrase, freighted with aspiration and hope yet burdened with misunderstanding and mistrust”.
As Danny says: “The looming global health issues are huge, but healthcare is at an ideal moment for change thanks to accelerating digital capabilities, rapidly advancing medical science, easier identification and associations with patient groups, along with a halo effect from industry’s pandemic performance.
He goes on to say: “How these positives are deployed will be hugely influential in realising a beneficial impact on individuals and healthcare systems.” Read more on page 24.
In our article by Gen Li, President and Founder of Phesi, he talks about the power of data to future-proof the clinical development industry and using the data gathered over the past five years to become more resilient to future challenges. Read more on page 16.
Looking ahead, our May issue will focus on the importance of creating effective patient pathways. Adopting the latest health innovations is vital in creating effective patient pathways, but along with that, it is equally important to include the patient voice.
