PME May

The true potential of digital health

We start off looking at the newly released 2018 edition of the Drugs to Watch Report, with 12 blockbusters predicted to launch this year. There is hope that some of these new drugs may help patients who are dealing with several of the most unmanageable diseases.

In our article on protecting patient privacy, the EMA focuses on moving towards greater transparency in the life science sector by allowing unprecedented access to clinical trial data.

Our new Group Editor, Andrew McConaghie, takes a look at the NHS and the ABPI at 70 and talks about how, after years of transactional relationships, there’s a will to work more closely – but friction on prices and value will remain.

I’d like to welcome Andrew to PME (see page 6 for his introductory comment). He has many years of experience in the pharma industry and we look forward to working with him on the new and exciting ideas he brings to the magazine.
