Biogen Idec has appointed Adriana Karaboutis as EVP, technology and business solutions as of September 24, 2014.
Karaboutis will lead Biogen Idec’s IT operations, aiming to advance the company’s use of data and technology to improve engagement with patients and healthcare providers.
She will also pursue efforts to use advanced analytics to improve the drug discovery process and investigate new insights into clinical data.
Dr Scangos, Biogen Idec’s CEO, said: “Adriana is a remarkable technology leader who will enable Biogen Idec to infuse digital innovation at all levels of our business and research organisations. As the pace of digital innovation accelerate, she will pay a critical role in our mission to improve human health and support those who serve patients.”
Karaboutis joins Biogen Idec from Dell, where she held the position of vice president and chief information officer (CIO) and was responsible for the company’s IT enterprise and customer experience.
