Bruce Freundlich appointed senior VP, medical

Antares Pharma has appointed Dr Bruce Freundlich as senior VP, medical.

Dr Freundlich has extensive experience in both academia and industry, including spells at Merck & Co, Wyeth and Pfizer.

During his time at Pfizer from 2009 to 2010 he served as VP, inflammation. He assumed the role after his previous company Wyeth – where he served as VP – global medical affairs, was taken over by Pfizer.

Most recently, he served as president of New Light Medical Consultants.

Antares Pharma has made several senior appointments in the past year, including a new VP, clinical development, and senior VP, pharma sales and marketing, as the company looks to commercialise Otrexup (methotrexate) for arthritis and advance the development of testosterone replacement therapy Vibex QS T.

“Everyone associated with Antares is excited about his joining the organisation at a time when we are establishing our own commercial presence in the rheumatology field,” said Dr Paul Wotton, CEO of Antares.

Dr Freundlich’s experience in rheumatology includes his position as chief of clinical rheumatology at the University of Pennsylvania in the US.
