GCI Health has announced the appointment of Aneeb Sharif as Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) head of policy.

Sharif holds more than 15 years of experience in healthcare policy analysis, strategic communications and patient advocacy, and joins GCI after most recently serving as head of policy and patient engagement at Syneos Health.

During his time at Syneos, where he held other leadership roles, Sharif was responsible for growing the agency’s public affairs practice across European, US and global markets.

He also previously served as vice president of health at Edelman and senior account superior at MSL, after beginning his career at SEIU.

In his latest position, Sharif will steer GCI’s EMEA public affairs business and work closely with Kath Harrison, president, EMEA, as well as Ryan Kuresman, global head of public affairs and health policy.

Commenting on his latest venture, Sharif said: “I’m excited to join a dynamic agency where true integration across specialisms and geographies shows up for clients, stakeholders and, ultimately, people and communities.”

Kristin Cahill, global chief executive officer of GCI Group, added: “Aneeb is an entrepreneurial leader who shares our drive to accelerate health outcomes around the world, and I’m delighted to welcome him to the team.”
