Lilly welcomes Carolyn Bertozzi back to its Board of Directors

Eli Lilly has appointed Carolyn Bertozzi to its Board of Directors as a returning member, after she served on Lilly’s board from 2017 to 2021.

In her returning role on Lilly’s Board of Directors, Bertozzi will serve on the board’s Science and Technology, and Ethics and Compliance committees.

Bertozzi is an elected member of the National Academy of Medicine, National Academy of Sciences and American Academy of Arts and Sciences. Her research has been recognised with a variety of honours and awards, including the 2022 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for her work on click chemistry and bioorthogonal reactions.

David Ricks, chair and CEO of Lilly welcomed her back, saying: “Carolyn is a Nobel Prize-winning chemist whose work has fundamentally changed how we think about developing targeted medicines, particularly in cancer. As we continue to pioneer new approaches in oncology and immunology, her perspective will be invaluable.”

Bertozzi currently serves as the Baker Family Director of Sarafan, Anne T and Robert M Bass professor in the School of Humanities and Sciences, and professor, by courtesy, of Chemical and Systems Biology and of Radiology at Stanford University. She is also an Investigator at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute.
