Sees off strong competition from Amgen and Sanofi

AbbVie picked up the Lucid Award for Company of the Year at the 2017 PMEA Awards, held last night at the Sheraton Grand London Park Lane hotel.

The pharmaceutical company saw off strong competition from Amgen and Sanofi, impressing the PMEA judges by clearly demonstrating both an effective team ethic and a strong focus on developing their people, values and culture.

Commenting on AbbVie’s win the PMEA judges said: “AbbVie’s patient centricity is clear, real and implemented exceptionally well, demonstrated by their success in addressing major competitive issues.

“It was outstanding that they had numbers to demonstrate the effectiveness of all their projects, providing a clear understating on what has been achieved.”

The PMEA judges added: “The team were honest and passionate about why they work at AbbVie, which was fantastic to see.”

Runner up Amgen was praised for showing genuine enthusiasm in their review with the judges.

“They have clearly moved beyond simply mapping out pathways for patients to understanding how to really build value, acting responsively, working in partnership with the NHS, to make changes that needed to be made,” the PMEA judges said.

Meanwhile, the other finalist in the category – Sanofi – found favour with the judges for bringing the company’s values to life and demonstrating how the firm’s five business units work effectively together.

The PMEA judges added: “Most importantly, it was clear that they always have the patient’s needs at the heart of what they do.”

Run by PMLiVE’s publisher the PMGroup, PMEA exists to reward responsible customer-centric business practices that ensure treatments and advice provide patients with meaningful outcomes.

The programme has been specifically designed to recognise and commend excellence, best practice and innovation in local, European and international markets.
