Double win for Spoonful of Sugar at Communiqué 2015

University spin-out takes Small Consultancy and Specialist Consultancy awards

Double win for Spoonful of Sugar at Communiqué 2015

Spoonful of Sugar picked up two top prizes at the Communiqué Awards 2015 in London last night, winning Small Consultancy or Health Team of the Year and Specialist Consultancy of the Year.

In the Communiqué Small Consultancy or Health Team of the Year category Spoonful of Sugar beat Incisive Health, who were highly commended in the category for their “outstanding performance”.

London-based Spoonful of Sugar, which applies behavioural change theory to medicines adherence, also saw off competition from the likes of finalists 90TEN Healthcare, GCI Health and Paradigm Communications.

The Communiqué judges said: “Spoonful of Sugar’s behavioural change is steeped in academia to provide credible, measureable outcomes and provides an industry changing model.

“They are not your average agency and by delivering through their methodology they are bringing some much needed rigor to the discipline of behavioural change.”

Founded in 2011 as a spin-out from University College London (ULC) Business, Spoonful of Sugar develops evidence-based patient support programmes and last year grew its team and client-base, and shifted from a pure consultancy model to a delivery model.

The agency also won Communiqué Specialist Consultancy of the Year at the awards, this time edging out three finalists – Incisive Health, Virgo Consumer Health & Wellbeing and Wordbird.

Commenting on this win the Communiqué judges praised Spoonful of Sugar as “a refreshingly honest and ambitious agency that is aspirational and wants to turn the industry on its head”.

They added: “Its powerful academic roots provide a strong foundation, entrenched in evidence, and give it a unique and highly differentiated positioning. This would be an agency of choice for personalised patient programmes.”

There was further recognition of the agency’s achievements at the Communiqué Awards, where its managing director Andrew Martello was a finalist in The Publicis Life Brands Resolute Award for Emerging Leader in Healthcare Communications.

Run by PMLiVE publisher the PMGroup, the Communiqué programme is specifically designed to recognise and commend excellence and best practice in local, European and international healthcare communications.
