GCI Health is to branch into medical education as part of ‘a new approach to integrated communications’.

The WPP agency’s plans are in response to the rapidly evolving European healthcare landscape, it said.

“In being able to better integrate education and communications, we aim to offer more encompassing strategic solutions across a broader proportion of the product lifecycle and from a corporate perspective,” Rikki Jones, director at GCI Health, told PMLiVE.

“The expansion of our offer to include medical education will see us deepen the value we provide to our client partners and the healthcare professional audience via our programming. We will be able to assemble more bespoke integrated account teams to ensure a non-siloed approach to the strategic impact that we deliver.”

The agency will recruit as the business grows, Jones said, but has already made its first hire, appointing Cally Clarkson (pictured above) to the newly-created role of director of medical education.

Wendy Lund, CEO of GCI Health, said: “Cally’s role will be integral as we continue to redefine healthcare communications across regions, designing and delivering a new integrated approach for clients that enables effective and aligned communications with stakeholders across the product lifecycle.”

Clarkson, who joins the agency from ApotheCom ScopeMedical – where she spent three years as client services director, will be part of GCI’s European leadership team and based at its London office.

Prior to her time at Apothecom Scopemedical, Clarkson held leadership roles at HealthEd, Delta Kn and TVF Communications.
