From Burnout to Balance: New Campaign Focuses on the ‘Matters’ that are Really Affecting Our ‘Minds’ in Health Communications

Launched on World Mental Health Day, Minds on Matters aims to highlight mental wellbeing challenges while showcasing practical solutions and positive change

- PMLiVE

Health communications agency Fox&Cat, in partnership with the Healthcare Communications Association (HCA), has today launched Minds on Matters: a new initiative to celebrate progress and share practical solutions to the wellbeing challenges facing healthcare communications professionals.

Minds on Matters builds on the previous success of Under the Tree, Fox&Cat’s award-winning campaign in partnership with the HCA, PRCA and CIPR, that supported more than 5,500 professionals in 2023 and 2024, with 90% saying they felt better equipped to manage stress. Yet challenges remain with three-quarters of healthcare communications professionals still reporting burnout every year, due to workload and an ‘always-on’ culture.

Paul Hutchings, Founding Partner at Fox&Cat, said: “Every year, new stressors emerge whether from technology, the economy, workplace change or a myriad of other factors. Minds on Matters will help get us much closer to the tangible, real-time issues we face. We will be asking our industry what’s driving stress right now and then shining a light on solutions, sharing real examples of what’s already working, across the next 12 months.”

Over the next 12 months, Minds on Matters will deliver four sessions. Each session will address a leading causes of stress and also showcase practical examples of positive change in action, with anticipated themes including: workload & boundaries, leadership & culture, recognition & value, and purpose & impact. For each session, attendees can expect:

  1. An educational session led by invited guests, the HCA and the Fox&Cat team
  2. An associated handout with key learnings, and access to any presentations or additional materials
  3. The chance to be heard and contribute towards the topics for each session via pre and post session surveys

Mike Dixon, CEO at the Healthcare Communications Association, said: “We’re delighted to bring Minds on Matters to our HCA members in partnership with Fox&Cat, given their deep-rooted experience and passion for healthy ways of working with both their clients and their teams. Minds on Matters is about equipping our profession with practical solutions while highlighting positive examples that already exist. Together, we can build on a culture where healthcare communications professionals feel fully supported, valued and able to thrive.”

Those wishing to engage with the campaign should follow Fox&Cat and the HCA on LinkedIn, and members can receive updates via the HCA website. Each session will be CPD-accredited by the HCA.
