Innovative Trials presented with Queen’s Award for international excellence in clinical trial patient recruitment
Innovative Trials, a company specialising in clinical trial patient recruitment and community engagement, has been honoured with a Queen’s Award for Enterprise for its outstanding work, both in the UK and internationally, to help pharmaceutical companies and Clinical Research Organisations (CROs) bring new medicines to market.
The award, which was presented to Kate Shaw and David Watkins, co-founders of Innovative Trials, at the company’s headquarters on Friday 26 June, is a mark of business excellence with winners personally approved by Her Majesty The Queen.
Kate Shaw, Innovative Trials’ co-founder and CEO, said: “We’re delighted and humbled to receive a Queen’s Award for Enterprise in the field of International Trade. Everything we do is driven by the desire to get life-changing treatments to patients faster, so we work extremely hard to support our clients’ needs across the globe. We know how vital new medicines are to patients, especially as our understanding of conditions increase and treatments get more targeted, and how costly recruitment delays can be for those funding the trials, so we do everything in our power to ensure clinical research studies have the participants they need to reach a successful endpoint.
“In the ten years that Innovative Trials has been running so far, we have helped recruit and retain around 40,000 people into clinical trials. It’s something we are incredibly proud of and why it is fantastic to now receive a royal seal of approval for our work.”
Founded in 2010, Innovative Trials works with some of the biggest pharmaceutical companies and CROs globally to help them reach their patient recruitment targets for trials, keep patients engaged throughout the research process and avoid costly delays in bringing effective new treatments to market. To date, the company has worked on nearly 200 clinical trials and played a part in six new treatments being approved for patients across the world. In 2020, the company launched a campaign alongside COUCH Health and Egality to ensure patients from under-represented ethnic groups are fairly represented in clinical research.
The Queen’s Awards for Enterprise recognise and celebrate business excellence in the UK. They are the most prestigious business awards in the country, with winners selected for their outstanding success. It is an endorsement of the highest standard and, for Innovative Trials, will remain in place until 2025.
