Medscape Oncology is pleased to announce the launch of a groundbreaking new learning space designed to provide education across tumor types and oncology disciplines: PIONEER – PrecIsion Oncology: Navigating EvidEnce for Real-world impact. This dedicated platform offers comprehensive, structured CME, organizing content by therapeutic target and tumor type to reflect the latest clinical and therapeutic advances. The result is a sharper focus on the science driving treatment decisions, ensuring physicians have the tools to deliver truly personalized care.

“This new learning center is all about providing clinicians with a one-stop destination for structured, consolidated CME, and helping them stay at the forefront of precision oncology to connect more patients with life-changing care. This is a vital resource for clinicians across oncology, and one we’re very proud to provide.” said Zhizhi Fiske, PhD, Director of Clinical Strategy at Medscape Education.

Surveys of Medscape physicians have found that 97% of physicians use biomarker or molecular target information when making treatment decisions. However, 85% of physicians frequently or occasionally encounter challenges in identifying appropriate therapies for patients with actionable mutations. Furthermore, 90% of physicians agree that a cross-tumor, target-based educational program would enhance their clinical decision-making.

“We surveyed over 100 physicians in the U.S. and E.U. The message was clear: doctors are eager to use biomarkers to guide treatment but struggle to keep up with rapid developments. Our findings confirm that while most find existing CME helpful, there is strong demand for interactive biomarker modules, expert panel discussions, and cross-tumor, target-based programs. A recurring theme was the desire for all these resources in one easily accessible place.” said Nabil Dorkhom, MD, Director Clinical Strategy at Medscape Education.

PIONEER is led by a distinguished steering committee of physician experts, including committee chair Fabrice André, MD, PhD, Head of Research, Professor of Oncology, Gustave Roussy, Villejuif, France; Benedikt Westphalen, MD, PhD, Chair, Center for Personalised Medicine,University Hospital, University of Munich, Munich, Germany; Vivek Subbiah, MD, Chief, Early-Phase Drug Development Sarah Cannon Research Institute,Nashville, Tennessee, United States; and Mary Beth Beasley, MD, Professor of Pathology, Head, Thoracic Pathology, Icahn School of Medicine at Mt. Sinai Medical Center, New York, United States.

“Precision oncology is revolutionizing cancer treatment, shifting from broad-spectrum therapies to precisely targeted interventions based on each patient’s unique molecular profile. For healthcare professionals, effective education and readily accessible, centralized information are paramount. This empowers them to harness cutting-edge diagnostics and apply optimized, individualized therapeutic strategies, ultimately improving patient outcomes,” commented committee chair Dr Fabrice André.
