Medscape has wrapped up their work at this year’s ASH annual meeting in San Diego. During the conference, Medscape hosted 8 symposia that presented the latest data and supported advancing person-centered care in Oncology and Hematology. Enduring programs from these education events will be posted online on Medscape.org soon.
Additionally, Medscape presented 3 posters which showed the impact of Medscape’s education programs on learner’s knowledge, competence, and confidence. The posters are available on the ASH conference website.
Throughout the event, Medscape had a focus on the power of patient-integration. Victoria Harvey-Jones, Associate Director of Clinical Strategy, and leader of Medscape’s Patient-Integration initiative, led the way with a poster created in collaboration with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
Five of Medscape’s symposia were developed in collaboration with patient advocacy groups highlighting the increasing need to integrate lived experiences and the patient voice into medical education programming. This approach ensured a more holistic and impactful framework for content development. Two symposia featured patient advocates from the Lymphoma Coalition in DLBCL (diffuse large B-cell lymphoma) and FL (follicular lymphoma) as part of the faculty panel, while an advocate from the Cancer Support Community was present on a third symposia discussing ALL (acute lymphoblastic lymphoma). Two additional symposia were developed in partnership with the CLL Society and the National Bleeding Disorders Foundation.
“We were honored to work with patient advocates to bring people’s lived experience with DLBCL, FL and ALL/LBL to the forefront at ASH, and showcase the power of patient-integration in education to advance person-centered care. Taking this approach can be transformative for both patients and clinicians, and education is one of the best ways to reach them,” said Harvey-Jones.
Medscape will release an updated white paper on the power of patient-integration in 2025.
The AI pilot at the ASH conference booth was a success, showcasing cutting-edge technology in action. Attendees engaged with the AI-driven solution, gaining insights into its innovative capabilities and potential impact on advancing hematology education. The interactive demonstration generated significant interest, with attendees praising its usability and the potential to streamline clinical education. This pilot not only highlighted Medscape’s commitment to innovation but also gathered valuable feedback to refine the solution for broader implementation.
