Innovations in Women’s Health Coalition Launches New Global Efforts

- PMLiVE

Medscape Education, the leader in continuing medical education for healthcare professionals, is extending its commitment to closing gaps in women’s health by expanding the efforts of its Innovations in Women’s Health Coalition (IWHC). The IWHC, which includes founding members from the American Medical Association (AMA), the March of Dimes (MoD), the National Association of Nurse Practitioners in Women’s Health (NPWH), and the Society for Women’s Health Research (SWHR), will now expand its efforts internationally.

“The IWHC is excited to welcome international organizations as new members and address women’s health issues on a global scale. Much work remains to address women’s health needs Building upon the success of the IWHC’s educational efforts in the United States and expanding to inform clinicians globally supports women around the world. Education impacts public health, and through this expansion, we’ll be able to reach more of our 13 million worldwide HCP members with the information they need to help their patients,” said Haleh Kadkhoda, Founding Member and Vice President of Strategic Partnerships and Division of Public Health for Medscape Education.

According to the World Health Organization, some of the issues that affect women’s health on a global scale include:

  • Unequal gender dynamics
  • Fewer education and economic opportunities
  • Poverty
  • The potential or experience of violence

The Coalition has launched a dedicated women’s health learning center on the Medscape Education platform. The learning center offers free accredited education and resources for the entire healthcare team practicing across women’s health specialties.
