Medscape Collaborates for Health Equity at DDW 2023

- PMLiVE

Recently, DDW 2023 took place in Chicago, IL, and Medscape was on-site with patient advocacy organizations to help educate clinicians on health equity in gastroenterology.

Medscape was joined during the conference by the American Gastroenterological Association (AGA), South Asian IBD Alliance (SAIA), and Color of Crohn’s & Chronic Illness, Inc. (COCCI – Co-Chee) at AGA Central on the exhibit floor for a collaborative health equity event: “Unconscious Bias: Now You See It, Maybe You Don’t? A Blindspot Reveal.” The event examined the minority patient disparities in gastroenterology care, including socioeconomic barriers, healthcare access, lack of awareness of cultural differences, and fewer opportunities for preventative care and screening.

“Our collaborative health equity event was extremely well received.  Our partner organizations are working hard to advance health equity and improve care for patients, and we were happy to collaborate with them in order to spread this important message to DDW attendees.” said  Jennifer Bomberger, Sr Dir, Educational Strategy Medscape.

Medscape is committed to education on health equity. Education on health equity in multiple specialties can be found on the Elevating Health Equity learning center—a dedicated destination page for clinicians.

In addition, Medscape held an important networking event for more than 40 attendees and faculty to discuss the latest developments in gastroenterology.
