The Power of Disease Awareness in Infectious Disease Education at IDWeek 2023

Medscape Education had one of its biggest conferences of the year with IDWeek 2023, hosting six educational symposia and presenting five scientific posters highlighting the outcomes of recent infectious disease education. Prior to the exciting week, we had the pleasure of hosting our very own LinkedIn Live event with Dr. John Whyte and Taison Bell, MD, MBA, which explored the future of healthcare in the digital age. Taison Bell shared his best advice for physicians who are active on social, and how he uses it in his everyday medical practice.

The six symposia covered timely developments in the world of infectious disease, sharing best practices and diagnostics for topics such as bloodstream infections, COVID-19 and COVID-19 vaccination, influenza, RSV, and cytomegalovirus.

“We are heading into the time of year when we typically see surges in rates of certain infectious diseases. These symposia ensure that clinicians are prepared with the latest information and can translate it into practice. We saw a great turnout for each event, and we’re looking forward to reaching even more learners when the events are endured online,” said Arun Nair, Clinical Strategy Associate Director.

In addition to educational activities at the conference and LinkedIn live event, Medscape Education presented five posters in the poster hall, sharing the outcomes and impact of education programs. The posters presented data that measured the effect of education on knowledge, competence, and confidence among learners. The posters are now available to read online.

The Medscape Education team also stepped away from the busy conference hall for an evening networking event with conference attendees. The event provided a relaxed environment for attendees to enjoy light refreshments and discuss the latest in infectious disease education.
