Skylines and Oncology Headlines in Chicago for ASCO 2023

- PMLiVE

ASCO 2023 was a huge success for Medscape Oncology with connections made with members and conference attendees during the event at the Medscape Oncology booth on the exhibit floor and through expert-led symposia held on three consecutive days.

For nearly 30 years, Medscape Oncology has been educating the community-based oncology care team and it is this deep expertise that fostered the collaboration with ASCO on an important educational initiative aimed at supporting high-quality cancer care and positive patient outcomes through education for the multidisciplinary members of the cancer care team.   The first track of this comprehensive initiative covers education topics for NSCLC including screening, treatment discussions, and palliative care along with ASCO resources to provide the tools clinicians need to help engage with their patients. You can read more about this here.

The Medscape Oncology symposia held during ASCO were all hybrid events that included an opportunity for virtual attendees to interact with leading experts and stay current on the latest developments in oncology. These symposia covered topics including Hormone Receptor-Positive/HER2-Negative Metastatic Breast Cancer, Immunotherapy for the Treatment of Nonmelanoma Skin Cancers, and Genitourinary Cancers. While the hybrid approach to symposia is not new, what differentiates Medscape Oncology’s hybrid offering is Medscape’s ability to extend reach to learners via its vast social media network of over 3.1 million followers across all its platforms. This social outreach resulted in thousands of healthcare professionals accessing vital education content in a convenient and easily accessible manner.

In addition, Medscape Oncology hosted a networking event at the VU Rooftop Bar in Chicago, where faculty and attendees could meet to discuss the latest in oncology care and the need for education to help improve clinical practice and advance patient outcomes.

“We always look forward to ASCO as one of the biggest, most impactful events in the oncology community. This year we were proud to present our educational symposia and meet with faculty and attendees to explore what’s coming next in this rapidly evolving field, as well as announce our exciting education initiative with ASCO itself,” said Christine Carey, Vice President, Medscape Oncology.
