Successful Education at ESC

October 2, 2024 | World Heart Day, cardiology, impact

- PMLiVE

With World Heart Day just having passed (29th September), Medscape wants to take the opportunity to look back and recap what was accomplished at ESC 2024.

At this year’s event, Medscape hosted 6 symposia that built upon 30 years of developing impactful education programs. The symposia were carefully designed to deliver the latest cutting-edge information to congress attendees and build a learning environment that welcomed interaction and engagement. Medscape has a strong history of live symposia, having presented 285 live events in 2023 and reaching 44,000 attendees in-person and virtually.

“Our symposia were highly successful at ESC 2024. Our programs are designed to bridge education gaps to make the greatest impact and keep learners interested and engaged. We proud to work with the global cardiovascular community to drive the future forward,” said Ellen Jenner, PHD, Associate Director, Clinical Strategy, Medscape Education.

In addition to education events at the congress, Medscape hosted a special networking event at London’s Tower Bridge called, “Bridging the Gaps in Cardiology.” A panel of esteemed experts presented at the event, including:

  • Carolyn Lam, MBBS, PhD from Duke-NUS Medical School
  • Kausik Ray, MD, MPhil, FRCP from Imperial College London
  • Marianna Fontana, MD, PhD, FRCP from University College London
  • Jan Steffel, MD from University Heart Center Zurich

During the event, Drs Jan Steffel and Kausik Ray sat down to offer insights into cardiology and education. When asked about the importance of education, Dr Jan Steffel said, “I think independent education is absolutely crucial to drive well both education and also implementation of what we’re seeing, what we’re doing in terms of research.”

Dr Kausik Ray said of the need for digital education, “There is clearly a need for digital education. Some of these need to be longer, some of these need to be shorter, and that’s something that’s really important because people have got busier. So, in terms of education, in terms of access to data, you want reliable sources of information easily.”
