Following its release of a remote clinical trial app, Novartis has honed in on digital once again, this time launching an app designed to support the Neuroendocrine Tumour (NET) cancer community.
NET is a type of cancer that develops from cells that specifically produce and secrete a variety of hormones that regulate bodily functions.
There are several types of NET cancers that can occur throughout the body, but most are found in the gastrointestinal tract, pancreas and lungs.
Novartis, which said that raising awareness of NET cancer is important in improving understanding and management of this rare disease, has launched Galaxies of Hope as an aid to this.
The app engages users through visual storytelling, using the real voices of patients, caregivers and physicians.
Ameet Mallik, executive vice president and head of US oncology at Novartis, said: We believe that this app can have a real, positive impact in the NET cancer community and we hope the creation of this virtual patient journey experience for the NET cancer community will provide support to those living with this rare disease and those who manage and care for them.”
The app will be available for download in the US on the Google Play Store.
