Celebrating the Communiqué Awards 2026!

The Communiqué Awards returned for the 28th year in July to celebrate excellence in healthcare communications and showcase the work shaping the industry. This year’s Awards, once again held at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London, included 32 categories.

The two co-chairs, Catherine Devaney, founder of Curious Health Communications, and Neil Flash, owner of Ignition Consulting, highlighted the chosen theme of the year, ‘Future’, which reflects a sector adapting to rapid change and embracing new possibilities.

The Awards celebrate excellence across healthcare comms and medical affairs, alongside individual, team and company achievements. Turn to page 22 to see full coverage of this exciting event!

In our cover story this month, Danny Buckland looks at forging a connection through creativity, and how a spark of creativity can cut through complexity, adding real value and helping to forge true connections with patients.

As Danny says: “Patient involvement, from active listening to co-creation, is sought-after for effective engagement as industry continues to shift from highly-technical content to personal narratives to reach patients who now have access to more treatments, even in the most intractable diseases, and increased awareness of their options.” Read more on page 30.

In the second of our articles on lupus, PME spoke to Albert Roy, President and CEO of the Lupus Research Alliance, about how current research could enable standards of care to move from suppressing the immune system to centre on targeted, disease-modifying therapies. Find out more on page 16.

The article from Tom Ellis on page 18, GLP-1s and the consumer lifestyle shift, looks at Amazon’s entry into the GLP-1 market, and how it should be a signal to pharma that it needs to shift focus from molecule to ‘Operating Model’. As Tom says: “The era of designing for the patient in the clinic is over – it’s time to start designing for the human in the real world.”

Our October issue will look at the power of social media – helping HCPs to improve patient understanding. If you would like to make your voice heard on this topic, please get in touch at sales@pmlive.com

I hope you enjoy this issue!
