A committee to ensure a clinical trial involving biomedical and behavioural research involving humans is ethical and the participants’ rights and welfare are protected. The committee will include physicians, researchers and community advocates amongst others. All clinical trials in the US must be approved by an IRB, with continuing follow-ups.
