Measures imposed by certain governments to limit the flow of foreign goods to protect local industries. These are usually economic and financial measures, such as tariffs and quotas. Most commonly trade barriers work on the same concept: the enforcement of a particular cost on trade that increases the price of the traded products. If numerous nations persistently use trade barriers against each other, then a trade war results.
