HRW has been recognised for its commitment to environmental transparency and sustainability by CDP, the global environmental non-profit that operates the world’s leading independent environmental disclosure system.

In its inaugural submission to CDP’s SME questionnaire, HRW received a ‘B’ rating for climate change, placing the organisation among the thousands of companies worldwide taking measurable action to understand and report on their environmental impact. The score forms part of CDP’s 2025 cycle, in which nearly 20,000 companies were scored, and more than 22,100 companies reported their data.

CDP applies a rigorous, independent methodology that evaluates the quality of environmental disclosure, governance, risk awareness, management practices and evidence of leading-edge action. Scores range from A to D-, reflecting the level of ambition, target-setting and implementation. For SMEs, CDP capped the highest achievable score for the 2025 submission cycle.

Aligned fully with the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) framework, CDP hosts the world’s largest repository of environmental information. Its scoring system is widely used by investors and procurement teams seeking to accelerate progress towards a net-zero, sustainable economy. In 2025 alone, 640 investors representing $127 trillion in assets requested companies disclose environmental impacts, risks and opportunities through CDP.

HRW Leadership Commentary

Lorna Kirman, Head of Sustainability at HRW, said:

“We are delighted to be recognised for the progress on our sustainability journey. This is our first year completing the CDP questionnaire, and so it is deeply rewarding to achieve a ‘B’ score. We remain committed to the environment and thinking bigger than ourselves. We know how urgent climate action is, and in 2026 we will be continuing our work to advance a greener, more sustainable world.”

Sherry Madera, CEO at CDP, commented:

“A CDP score is a sign of commitment to high-quality data that enables companies to take earth-positive economic decisions that future-proof their operations, improving access to capital, competitiveness and compliance. Tackling environmental risks head-on will create a more resilient economy and increase companies’ ability to innovate and invest. We look forward to seeing all companies build on their accolade and turn their commitments into meaningful and effective action.”

Jeanette Kaye, Global Deputy Managing Director at HRW, added:

“We’re so proud to be walking the walk with our sustainability journey at HRW and look forward to furthering our understanding and activity in the coming months and years to help protect our world.”
