Medscape Launches “Where Public Health Meets Practice” Learning Center to Translate Public Health Strategies into Patient Care

- PMLiVE

The Medscape Division of Public Health announced the launch of the “Where Public Health Meets Practice” Learning Center, a dedicated educational destination on Medscape.org. The new center serves as a centralized source for practical, evidence-based continuing education that translates broad public health topics into actionable clinical guidance.

Designed for interprofessional care teams, the Learning Center supports physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurses, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals in navigating an increasingly complex patient care environment. The platform brings together a curated mix of independent education developed and funded by the Medscape Division of Public Health alongside critical education from leading U.S. health agencies.

“There is often a critical gap between when public health guidance is announced and when clinicians and professionals feel confident integrating it into their workflows,” said Lindsey Gardner, Director of Public Health at Medscape. “This free Learning Center bridges that divide. It provides the practical and nuanced education that interprofessional teams require to implement best practices consistently and effectively.”

Empowering the Interprofessional Care Team

The accredited continuing education activities within the Learning Center provides comprehensive support for interprofessional care teams across multiple critical areas:

  • Infectious Disease Threats: Recognition, screening, and treatment across emerging and high-consequence threats.
  • Women’s Health & Prevention: Applying evidence-based prevention strategies, addressing the rise in congenital syphilis, and supporting patients through the menopause transition.
  • Patient Communication & Counseling: Overcoming adoption barriers and communicating confidently about the integration of biosimilars across medical specialties.
  • Safety & Environmental Health: Practical guidance on mitigating risks associated with wildfires, extreme heat, carbon monoxide, and older driver safety.
  • Complex Conditions: Supporting informed decision-making when guidelines require careful interpretation, such as the diagnosis and management of myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome and bartonellosis.

Streamlining Access to Supplemental Resources:

To support ongoing learning and deeper understanding, the Learning Center integrates a collection of supplementary materials. By centralizing access to preventative task force recommendations, clinical risk calculators, and state health directories, the platform provides care teams with essential resources for further reference and knowledge expansion.
