The ability of a physician to submit a prescription directly to a pharmacy from the point of care.
E-Prescribing is the electronic transmission of prescription data from the prescriber’s computer to a pharmacy computer. It substitutes the paper prescription that a patient would normally be issued with. It is regarded as an improvement in patient safety by decreasing the possibility of a prescribing fault due to various factors, such as poor handwriting or ambiguous vocabulary.
