Transforming San Diego for AAD 2024

- PMLiVE

The 2024 meeting of the American Academy of Dermatology has wrapped up, and Medscape has returned from a series of successful days at their booth, symposia, and offsite event.

To kick off the conference, Medscape held an offsite networking event for meeting attendees. The event featured a welcome from esteemed Medscape faculty Dr. Lawrence Eichenfield, Dr. Tina Bhutani, and Dr. Shawn Kwatra. Attendees were invited to network and enjoy conversation with their fellow dermatology professionals while enjoying light refreshments.

This year, Medscape worked with two of their Professional Network members to host a booth. Journal of Drugs in Dermatology and SanovaWorks co-hosted, sharing more about their incredible education tools, and how they work together with Medscape to form a complete ecosystem of dermatology resources.

“With Medscape Professional Network members like JDD and SanovaWorks, we’re able to give our members access to information and resources they can’t get anywhere else. JDD is highly respected in the community, and now readers can get education with their subscription—it makes it so easy to learn and earn credits in a way we know our members like. And SanovaWorks is behind some of the most impactful dermatology conferences in the world, not to mention The Full Spectrum of Dermatology: A Diverse and Inclusive Atlas. JDD and SanovaWorks are important members of our dermatology network, and we were so glad we got to spend time with them talking to attendees,” said Piyali Shin, Vice President of Sales.

Medscape also hosted two education symposia, covering the topics of patient-centric management of actinic keratosis, and optimizing outcomes in atopic dermatitis using advanced biologics. Both events saw strong turnout and lively discussion between the presenters and learners.

As part of Medscape’s on-going commitment to disseminating the outcomes of education programs, three scientific posters were accepted and presented at AAD.

The posters were:

  • Online Continuing Medical Education Improved Dermatologists’ Knowledge, Competence, and Confidence About New Topical Treatments for Psoriasis, which explored new nonsteroidal topical treatments for patients with plaque psoriasis and saw significant increases in knowledge, competence and confidence amongst learners.
  • Clinical Self-Assessment Reveals Gaps for Dermatologists Regarding the Management of Alopecia Areata, which provided a baseline assessment of knowledge, competence, and barriers in the management of Alopecia Areata among dermatologists.
  • Online CME Improved Competence and Confidence in Managing Alopecia Areata. This study evaluated the effect of CME on dermatologists’ competence and confidence in managing Alopecia Areata.
