Hypothesis

A supposition or assumption advanced as a basis for reasoning or argument, or as a guide to experimental investigation.

In order for a hypothesis to be put presented as a scientific hypothesis, the method requires that it is testable. Scientists generally base a hypotheses on prior observations that cannot be explained satisfactorily with the existing theories put to practice.
