The Healthcare Communications Association (HCA) has announce that Emma Kenny will be the new interim CEO, following the departure of current CEO Mike Dixon later this summer. Mike, who over the last nine years has been instrumental in the transformation of the HCA, has taken the decision that the time is right for him to retire from the role.
Emma, who has been at the heart of healthcare communications for over 25 years, has volunteered for the HCA for many years, most recently as a member of the board. She knows the organisation well and is ideally placed to ensure seamless continuity while a permanent CEO is identified.
Commenting on Mike’s departure, HCA Chair, Alice Choi said: “We thank Mike for his enormous contribution to the HCA over the last nine years. We, of course, understand his decision that it is time for him to step back and wish him all the very best.
“We are delighted Emma has agreed to step into the role while we identify our next permanent CEO, and know she will do an amazing job picking up where Mike has left off, to continue our important work and keep the association moving forward.”
In announcing his departure Mike thanked all those who had supported him over the years. “I have been honoured to have been the CEO of the HCA and although I know it is the right time, I am still sad to be leaving. I look forward to seeing the organisation continue to go from strength to strength and believe the HCA’s role is even more important now than ever before.
“I have had the privilege to work with amazing people over the last nine years and I give my heartfelt thanks to them all for their support. I look forward to watching the organisation continue to grow and play an increasingly significant role in the sector.”
Emma expressed her excitement at taking on the interim role, saying: “The HCA is an important and impressive organisation that has cemented its position in our sector over recent years. I look forward to continuing to build on those great foundations as the HCA supports and champions our members through the challenges and opportunities ahead.”
